After suffering amnesia, Jack Emerson, wakes in a small Montana town with no idea who he is or what his life was like. His only clue to his true identity is the beautiful woman at his side. A woman he apparently traveled to Montana to marry. Although he doesn't remember his promise, Jack is a man of his word. Knowing Lissa is in danger of losing her ranch, he wastes no time marrying her...even if he can't remember proposing.

When Lissa finds the handsome stranger on the  road to her house, she knows he must be the man who is coming to marry her. Recently widowed, marriage is the only way to guarantee that her ranch and her son will be safe from the rustlers who have been stealing cattle and threatening her livelihood. She wants a marriage of convenience, but swears that she will never give her heart away again. But as Jack works to protect her home and her son, Lissa finds it harder to keep that promise even as she finds herself wondering who Jack Emerson really is.  With her heart and her future on the line, Lissa has to wonder...has she married the wrong man?

Lissa Cowboy edition by Jillian Hart Romance eBooks

Jack (US Marshal), is found in the road after being attacked by a Mt. Lion and shot in the head with a skull fracture by an escaped outlaw. Yet the very next day, with complete amnesia and mistakenly identified, he's on his feet and marrying the very beautiful and perfect widow, who saved him, mistakenly identified him & wants a new Pa for her son & to chase off the rustlers destroying her ranch. After deadly serious injuries the day before, he hops a horse, after the rustlers, who attack minutes after the wedding and get shots again! This could have been a great story but this guy gets shot several times(two separate ones in the head) but never seems to have to recuperate after surviving all these near death injuries! It wasn't just sensual, it was hot sex and there is so much in the books these days, nothing is left to the readers own imagination. I don't need sex explained to me in every romance book I read, it ends up taking away from the story for me and wasted pages. The love story would have stood fantastically on its own! I also felt the end was rushed and left wide open. After Lissa has their baby, John remembers who he is but doesn't tell anyone and the crooked town Sheriff hangs him as the rustler. As he's hanging, his brother(also a federal Marshall) rides into town and shoots the rope and John survives again. Yet this guy who is Mr gorgeous perfect, super hero through the whole book, doesn't even introduce his brother to the woman who had just had his baby, who's marriage wasn't legal since he married her under a false name. There's also no wedding! Instead, he leaves town with his brother to take the real criminals in for justice. He does eventually come back & it ends. Really ruined the hero for me because he took off leaving the woman he supposedly loves so much, in what in those days would definitely have condemned her as a fallen woman alone with his stepson and their baby. Have read some excellent books by Jillian Hart but this, sadly was nowhere near the exceptional writing in the others.

Lissa Cowboy edition by Jillian Hart Romance eBooks Reviews

I enjoyed this book very much. The storyline was delivered in a way that held my interest to the very end of the story. The characters were well written and the book had just the right amount of romance, suspense and action to keep the story exciting. This was a definite five stars, a very good book.
This was a wonderful story and the plot was interesting. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I can't wait to read another one of Jillian Hart's. books if they are like this one. The sex descriptions are great and gives something extra to the story.
I chose this book because it sounded like a book I would like to read, easy reading.
What I questioned about the book, was Lissa''s Cowboy was getting hurt all the time and they sounded like bad injuries, and he recovered so fast and well, just not believable, and hat fire, I don't know. What whatever like I said easy reading. I did enjoy it.
Jack Emerson is caught in a struggle between a mountain cat and his prisoner. Jack is left for dead, but is rescued by Lissa and her son. Thinking he is her dead husband's cousin, Lissa has been waiting for him to marry her and rescue her ranch. Only Jack is a U.S. Marshall who has no memory of his own name. Good western romance.
I enjoyed reading this book greatly! It was easy to read, the description to detail made me feel like I was a part of the book and I could picture the scenes and surrounds very well as I read. It was a very romantic but clean read and those seem hard to find these days. The ending seemed to be all crouded into 1 chapter (as most I find are any more) and was just a tad bit hard to follow since the rest of the book had been so smoothly detailed out but it was a good book and I would very much like to read more of this nature and style.
I consider Jillian Hart to be one of the best of today's writer's of historical fiction, and "Lissa's Cowboy" did not disappoint me.

This was a beautiful story of a love that grows after a marriage, yet it had enough mystery and drama to hold your attention.

One thing I wish Ms Hart had not done was to explain Jack's (John's) situation as to how he got hurt in the beginning. It would have been so much more exciting to have his story unfold during the reading. That would have driven her readers crazy trying to figure it out.

All and all, it was a great read. Bravo! Bravo!
Ms. Hart does not disappoint! I have become quite a fan of hers and bought several of her books today.

Lissa's Cowboy grabs you from the very beginning and does not let go until the very end, and then you will wish there was more. If you are looking for a read with a sexy, strong willed cowboy and a spunky heroine, then this book is for you. The secondary characters are wonderful and people you would want to know and be friends with.

I loved this book and so sad that it ended. It is one for the keeper shelf!

I'd also love to see Chad's story when he is all grown up.
